Iran star joins new project

Veteran Iranian actor Reza Rouygari has been set to return to cinema with Hossein Ghenaat’s ‘Lasagna’.

Rouygari is to have one of the main roles of the film, produced by Ahmad Ahmadi.

Born in 1946, Rouygari joined the theater club and appeared in the play 'Veys and Ramin'. His television career started with the drama 'Hygiene Neighborhood' in 1984 and he launched his film career with 'Eagles'.

'The Tenants' is considered one of his best works to hit the silver screen. In 1996, he took a break from acting and devoted his time to painting.

He returned to the silver screen seven years later with 'Boutique' for which he won an Iran Cinema Celebration Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

In recent years, he has mostly appeared in series. One of his most memorable performances was in the drama 'The Rise of Mokhtar' in which he played the role of Kian Irani.

Rouygari is the singer of the famous 'Iran Iran' song and has released several albums.

Some of his other films and series are 'Boro Bia Neighborhood', 'The Tenants', 'Lost Innocence', 'Operation 125', ' Heartbroken', 'Extreme Cold', 'The Rich and the Poor', 'The Outcasts 3', '3-5-2', 'Madineh' and 'Leila's Loneliness'.

As the seventh directing experience of Ghenaat, ‘Lasagna’ has chosen Behnoush Bakhtiari as the female star of the film. Before that, Javad Razavian and Reza Naji had joined the project.
